Haha! I think it's more about not making a too big deal out of the deaths, because it's so common. Yes, I think they deserved more attention, but at the same time, so many people died in the fight, and it was more of a surprise (for people who hasn't read the books that is) to just see Ron's reaction.. And more heartbreaking and less Hollywood in my opinion.
